iPhone X wont respond to touch

Hi, my iPhone seems to not be responding to any touch. I can turn it on via the side button, it responds to touch etc, but cant get onto my home screen as I cant swipe up after Face ID.

My phone screen afterwards also produced a message telling me to plug my phone into my laptop and also sent me to a apple support site, which instructed me to reset my phone. This has not worked

any ideas what could be causing it?

(phone isn't cracked or anything, dropped a few times but no major signs of damage)
