mac mini (2018) random freeze/shutdown/restart kernel panic

Doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it, and have tried most all of the advice I've found on the many, many, many related threads on this problem (to wit: isolating USB devices, replicating the failure with various software running, and after SMC, NVRAM/PRAM resets, different monitors ...).

The machine is a 2018 mini with the intel i3 (2.6GHx quad core) and integrated UHD 630 graphics, running Catalina 10.15.7 with dual monitors (one off the HDMI, the other an older monitor via a USB-C converter, but the error occurs off a single monitor also, either in HDMI or USC-C).

The latest crash report below is also the shortest I've had over countless crashes since I purchased this several months ago, and it's the first that I remember mentioning the CATERR flag.

Any thoughts here?

I suspect a hardware problem but there’s one more thing you can try if you have a complete backup. Erase the drive, reinstall the OS. Don’t install any software or migrate and disconnect all hardware but mouse, keyboard, and display. Trying using the computer as is for a day or so. If there are no more panics it is something you installed. If panics continue it’s hardware.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to have much to do with process loads, or kernel extensions.

I just tried booting into safe mode, to see if that changed anything. No joy: Google Chrome runs a lot slower (I was using docs and slides in the browser), then, another kernel panic and restart.

There's no rhyme or reason to it.

I realized that my MacMini only panics on x86 CPU CATERR shortly (~5mins) after I disconnect Blackmagic eGPU (official certified eGPU sold directly by Apple). But it does that in Big Sur as well and my new Macbook Pro 16 does the same thing, so apparently it's some AMD eGPU driver issue, that even though the eGPU is safely disconnected from the system, something somewhere touches it few minutes later and panics because it can't find it anymore. It only happens after some disconnects. But it never happens under any other circumstances. So apparently sometimes the safe disconnect is not properly managed under the hood and leads to panic. I have submitted all the panics to Apple including description of this scenario, but I don't think anyone cares, I have never received any feedback.
