Apple Watch Series 6 - Red Dot notification will not clear!

I just purchased my new Apple watch series 6 and the red notification icon will not shut off after I have read my texts and messages. How can I manually reset the red circle icon?

Thank you for any help with my small but very annoying issue.

Swipe down from the top of the watch then tap clear all
