Exporting a single frame as a high quality Jpeg> Is it Possible?

Hi,

what is the proper way to export a single frame of HDV video in FCP as a high resolution jpeg?

I have been going the easy route by screen capturing , but the resolution seems to take a hit.

There has to be a proper way perhaps using Compressor?

I am thinking that you select "in" and "out" on the frame and export using compressor but if there is an easier way please let me know.

thank you,
Mike

Hi -
The easiest way is to place the playhead in the timeline on the frame you want to export and go to the menu File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion and when the dialog box opens, towards the bottom of the box select Format: Still Image, click the Options button and select the format you want (in this case JPEG).
Set a name and a destination and you will have your still.

Note that it will not exceed the resolution of your video, which is 1440 x 1080 at 72 dpi. There are third party Photoshop plug-ins that can attempt to up rez the photo, to what extent they will be successful is for you to judge.
