Edit iPhone auto-correct

my iPhone auto-correct function has learned to correct "and" to "abs". everytime I want to type "and" it automatically changes it to "abs". how can I fix that?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9

This isn’t a text replacement things but an apple thing, likely with one of the 14.x updates.


To work around it (which we shouldn’t have to) you need to put in to the text replacement the word “and” to be replaced with “and”.


this is 100% an issue with the local dictionary, similar to how the devices screwed up the phone numbers after a 14.x update.

Thank you. For those of us that need directions that go in order of the way you see stuff, here’s how I fixed it based on your idea.


go to settings/general/keyboard/text replacement


Then, click the plus sign in the top left corner.

for phrase put the word and

for shortcut put the word abs


phrase- and

shortcut- abs


I didn’t have to do the other idea mentioned, once doing this. I’m thinking some people might have mixed up the order of phrase and shortcut and that’s why it didn’t work for them, because I almost did the same.
