You are given a trade-in estimate at the time you order and you are charged the full price for the new MacBook Pro when it ships. They ship a box for you to return the old device at about the same time. You use that box to ship the return. When the return is received they examine it and if approved they credit your original payment method for the new MacBook Pro. If they find something wrong they will offer a lower amount which you have the option of rejecting. If you reject the lower offer they return the old device to you.
