Suddenly, my ringer no longer rings. My music plays, and so do alerts. Just no ringer. I’ve done the check the mute button, the do not disturb, I’ve downloaded the newest version, I have literally done everything short of throwing it away!! I need someone to help me with this who doesn’t ask the same stupid questions.

It appears that you're not hearing your selected ringtone when a phone call is received since updating your iPhone XR. Good job on the troubleshooting you've tried, and we're glad to help with this.
Use tones and ringtones with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support -- Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Tap Ringtone, then tap the ringtone to see if it plays. If you're using a ringtone you've purchased and it doesn't play in the settings, scroll up and download your purchase ringtone then see if it plays. If it still doesn't play, select a different ringtone to test.
