iPhone 7 Mic not working after iOs 14 update

Is the microphone working in any apps? For example, Voice Memos, Camera, Phone, etc.

First, make sure you have all iOS 14 updates installed:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then, check for any carrier settings updates:

Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Let's check your cellular settings. First, go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options. Is "Voice & Data" set to LTE? If so, switch to 4G, then let us know if you still have issues with sound. If that fixes the issue, try updating your carrier settings before contacting your carrier: Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

I have this same problem and currently my problem has been documented and escalated to apple engineers. I have done everything possible and it even passed diagnostic logs working with apple support. Stay tuned.

I have the same problem. Spent 4 hours chatting with Apple Support. Even restored to factory settings. No help. Ran a hardware diagnostic with no known failures. Went to Apple store told me I had to get a new phone. Told me the update will disable any faulty hardware so my microphone was faulty. Told my board was faulty but the hardware diagnostic showed nothing. I am beyond dissatisfied and angry with Apple. Are you kidding me Apple????

That’s *****. Originally I thought 14.2 corrected my problem but shortly after the install it quite working again. They are calling me back again today and I’m going to show them this thread.

Go to settings>screen time>content and privacy>go to microphone. Mine is all about my photos as are almost all other categories. Chatting with Apple now and will report back.
