Hi, my wife's name is Margaret, but her name is pronounced Margie. The 'g' should sound like the 'g' is argue but instead it sounds like the g in large. I have followed the steps. If you type in Marg it says it correctly, however, the minute you put an 'ie', 'ey', 'i' etc it changes the pronounciation.

When I speak the correct name, Siri gives me an option of which word is correct. I choose the correct name and Siri speaks. Then when I ask her to say it again, she reverts back to the old one.

In (American) English, “Margie” is quite a common name (I have a friend with that name) and is indeed pronounced with the “g” as in “large”. So Siri likely assumes that as well.

If your situation happened to me, I would try Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Pronunciations to see if I could overrule the default pronunciation with the correct one.

Thanks! As I said, I learned a lot from this. I had never used Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Pronunciations. It provides that “Play” feature in the upper right so you can hear the result of the substitution. (But yes, the “ghee” substitution was the first thing that came to mind.)
