If the AOL account is in your mail app, just pull down on the preview window to show the search field and then type in any relevant text/keywords that would help you locate the email. As Axel Foley stated, if the account is IMAP and the email was deleted, it is gone and can’t be recovered since actions taken in IMAP email accounts are reflected across devices. When you permanently delete it on any device, (empty the trash) it is also deleted from the server.

Go to ➔ www.aol.com and then sign in to your email account. AOL is an IMAP email account and that means that if you see that email that you are looking for in your AOL Inbox then all is good. If you do not see it in your mail box then you know that it has been deleted. You can then check the Deleted Items folder as well.
