Apple believes that WEP, and now WPA, are weak protocols and that we need to be reminded of that. There are many reasons to continue using older protocols and many reasons to tighten your encryption protocol, but it is up to you to manage your own life.

If all of the devices connecting to your router, including the router itself, are capable of WPA2, and you are the owner of the router, go ahead and change the configuration on the router and then change all of your network devices to match the new setting. If you have older or simpler devices that are incapable of using the newer protocols, stay as you are. If you are worried about spying or a neighbor stealing internet service from you or using your internet service for nefarious purposes, upgrade your setting. If you live in a place where you don't have to worry about those things, don't. Only you can decide.

That warning is just that. Your iDevice will continue to work just fine. Remember, the legacy protocols will always remain available for access to WiFi hotspots in hotels, train stations, airports, cafés, etc.
