How can I avoid updating iTunes?

If you're running OS X 10.11 iTunes won't update automatically. What version of iTunes do you have installed? Do you have any iOS devices? If so what version of iOS is involved?

What is an iOS device?
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. I would expect you to know the term if you had one, but in some cases iTunes may want to download a patch to allow it to connect to devices running newer versions of iOS. iTunes 12.8.2.3 is the last version for OS X prior to Mojave, which in turn is the last version of macOS to run iTunes.
