What to do with error code 4000?

Hello!

My iPhone 11 Pro will not update via the usual methods, not sure why or how but ultimately those answers are irrelevant as I just want to get the phone back to an update-able state like a regular Joe. The phone tells me it’s unable to check for updates when using the Settings app and iTunes comes back with an error code 4000 when trying the update on my PC.

I have done the following:

Simple Reboot, Erase All Content and Settings, iCloud Restore, Restore from PC backup, non-restoration (neither iCloud or PC) reset, updating with latest version of iTunes.

And that’s where I run into the 4000 error code in iTunes and back to square one. I HAVE NOT tried a recovery mode restore/update nor a DFU restore/update. I want to make sure that progressing to these next steps is what I should do before I actually do them.

The only reason I’m asking is because the guide on what to do doesn’t mention the 4000 code specifically anywhere.

Greetings, FunkTrumpetPlayer.

It appears that you're receiving an error trying to update your iPhone to iOS 11. The error code is 4000, and there isn't a reference to this error that you can find. Good job on the troubleshooting you've tried, and we're glad to help with this.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support -- Try updating once again using your computer, and make sure your iPhone is unlocked.

Get Support -- If error 4000 appears again, please contact Apple Support. After selecting this link, choose Update, Backup & Restore > Unable to update or restore, then start the conversation with Apple Support.

Take care.
