How to clear "new items" in Photos import from IOS without importing ?

Hi,

using: IOS 14.0.1 on Iphone and 10.15.7 on Mac.

I plugged my Iphone into the Mac, started Photos and Photos shows me in the device tab of my Iphone 2547 "New items" and asks me to import. Well, they are not new (that's a different problem) and I don't want to import them to avoid duplicates.

How can I clear these "new items" list in Photos on my Mac without importing ? Otherwise I cannot find out which really new items will be there next time.

Thanks for any help,

Oliver

Well, it's basically a severe Apple BUG in my eyes !

Hello,

think I found it and it's a major BUG !!!

whenever you TRANSFER your pictures from your your iphone to Mac via "My Photo Stream" (or perhaps other ways too) you receive in Photos on Mac a JPG-File. Whenever you IMPORT your pictures with connecting the iphone via cable to the Mac and use the Import of Photos on the Mac, you get a HEIC-file. These have the same pictures and same timestamps but because of different formats are considered to be different obviously.

Even, worse, I cannot see a way out. On the Iphone in Settings->Photos there is a category "transfer to Mac or PC" which is described as to control this behaviour, but it doesn't change anything.

So come on guys from Apple, this one is important, please fix !!

Cheers,

Oliver
