Macro photography is very difficult (even for high-end DSLR Camera's), unless you have a dedicated Macro lens. This isn't the fault of the cameras in iPhone. Take a picture not nearly as close, then tell your dermatologist to zoom in the photo, which they most certainly can and should be able to.

Hi bobs-mac,
We understand that when you're taking photos at a close range they don't focus as you'd expect. We want to do all we can to help.

Take care!
To take a close up picture of a spot on my arm to send to the dermatologist I am using my iPhone 11 Pro. I think I used the 1 Zoom (26mm) setting. I tried the .5 Zoom (13mm) setting and it helped a little. I was trying to focus in from about 1” away to get a real close up picture. Is the .5 setting about as good as it gets. I appreciate your input. Thanks
Which camera are you using to take such a close image?
Thanks. That should work.
You're welcome
