I had my battery replaced about a month ago and nothing was lost. However, Apple isn't responsible for data loss and it's always possible something can happen.
You could also back up to a computer.
If the phone turns on when it is plugged in you can back it up to your computer. If not it is too late to back it up.
Will it still back up to computer while iPhone battery still needs replacing? I can’t get the iPhone to open up at all. Is usable now. Please reply back thank you.

Battery lost before I could backup needed more space and didn’t have password to pay for more cause husband has it in his name
