AirPods not connecting to MacBook

how do I connect my AirPods to my MacBook, I tried to do this at first the name of my AirPods was visible in the bluetooth section of my MacBook however it didn't connect and I accidentally deleted the AirPods from my MacBook I need help

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15
