I have a Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 digital camera. When I connect it to my computer, at first it my computer recognizes a new drive, then it auto ejects it. When I try to open the camera drive/files it doesn't recognize it. Is it not working b/c my camera is not mac compatible?
What would you like to have happen when you connect your camera? iPhoto launch? Image Capture launch? Make sure your camera is turned off. Connect it to the MBP. Turn it on. Launch iPhoto. Go to iPhoto>Preferences>General. "Connecting camera opens".....
Thanks for the response. I tried following your recommendation and my camera is still not connecting. I'm trying to connect my camera to my MBP so I can view photo files and upload the pictures to my MBP. It doesn't matter if I use iPhoto or image capture. After I connect my camera and turn it on, nothing happens. It's like my MBP is not recognizing my camera. I opened both iPhoto and image capture and no photos are found and it shows no devices connected. When I connect my camera to my PC it auto loads and recognizes my device. Any thoughts?
The camera manual says that it should operate transparently for Mac OSX up to 10.4 (Tiger). There is also some comment about not having a memory card in the first time it's connected. If you don't have the manual it can be downloaded from Casio's website. It would be worth checking this to see if there's something you're not doing correctly.
Launch System Profiler. At left side select USB. If the MBP is seeing the camera it should show up as being connected. Or as Neville suggests it may not be compatible with the OS you're running. Check your manual and/or contact Casio.
Hi. I am also having trouble getting my desktop to register my camera. I download photos from 2 different cameras (Pentax) all the time and then yesterday when i plugged in the camera, it simply says "untitled" on the desktop and even though iphoto launches - it does not register the camera any longer.
Does anyone know how to correct this? I think this happened because i forgot to eject the camera last time i used it and just turned the camera off first. oops. Help?

Yes, I think that might have caused it. Try reformatting the memory card in the camera, using the camera's menu commands (see the camera manual if you don't know how to do this). Be aware that reformatting will erase everything that is on the card. Then take a picture or two, connect the camera to the Mac again, and see what happens.
Thank you for the response. I appreciate it! I tried swapping the card out of one camera and into another and i've tried using a different camera (one that i uploaded pics from yesterday) and neither card or camera work so i am pretty sure it is the computer's problem.
Is there a way to re-set the way iphoto reads the hardware that is plugged in?
