How can I delete text messages from iCloud? I've deleted hundreds of text messages from all my devices and still my storage is almost full

I have searched all over the Internet and find no answer. This should not be so difficult. My iCloud storage is almost full so I deleted hundreds of text messages with photos and see no difference in my storage. I deleted them from all my devices as well.
