Downsizing iPhone local storage as I have 1tb iCloud storage
I have an iPhone 11 Pro 512gb, I also have 1tb iCloud storage.
My iPhone 11 Pro is always full but as new things get added (apps, photos etc) the old stuff gets fed up to the cloud (optimized) - totally fine.
I am wanting to update my phone to the iPhone 12 pro but to save a bit of cash was wondering if I just get the smaller 128gb or 256gb size because everything is going to push up to the cloud. BUT I thought, if I do a back up before I switch over to a smaller iPhone will it not be able to restore from back up because my new phone is not as big as my old one? I am thinking that it needs to restore from back up first THEN push things up to the cloud, which it just won't have the space to do.
But if I can; back up my iPhone 11 Pro 512gb and then, easily restore from back up onto a 128gb iPhone 12 Pro for instance and it just optimizes everything as it restores from back up, then I'm good!
