i have apple ipod touch ios9.3.5 i cannot update for snapchat, what can i do?

I have apple iPod touch with IOS 9.3.5. I cannot update for snapchat. I updated the ipod from the computer. I keeps telling me its not compatible with this iPod

A 5th generation iPod cannot be updated beyond 9.3.5 You need at least a 6th generation iPod
