Just Bought a Macbook Air: Zoom Issues

I just bought a Macbook Air, it runs the most current version of Catalina, and Zoom keeps crashing. Even after an hour on the phone with tech support and going through blog posts on to fix the issue it still crashes. I'm in a graduate program and I HAVE to have Zoom. Any suggestions beyond going back to a PC?
