The power health check says 'Service Recommended'. With 1% of life when it's plugged in !!! 3 years seems a very short life if this in fact means replacing the battery, doesn't it?
I'm no techie so is it wise to buy a new battery and hope I have ordered the right codes and can change it - or should I spend a little more and get an Apple Store to do it ?

You do not want to try an change the BATT yourself on a 2017.
