Safari 14 & Flash related content
If Safari 14 and other major browsers cease to load flash related content, what is the workaround? How can I watch videos on YouTube? Thanks in advance
MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.0

For the past two days, my Safari has not playing any videos on YouTube. I attributed it to the safari 14 update because I’ve pretty much done everything else - uninstalled all extensions, deleted cache and history, restarted my router. Yet, I keep receiving this error. Any idea what the cause could be?
Hello,
Safari 14.0 dropped support for Flash since Adobe announced an EOL for the SWF player. Support for Flash will officially end on December 31st, 2020.
After that date any SWF content will be blocked.
Keep in mind there's a 3rd party solution for those who'll miss the good old days of Flash.
SuperNova SWF enabler allows Flash content on Chromium-based browsers, a built-in player for macOS and other operating system is currently in the works.
And this is precisely why the internet continues to have issues with security. Flash is being killed by Adobe because it is the #1 vector for hackers and malware on the planet. Adobe tried for a decade to make it secure and they couldn’t. Adobe released patch after patch and the bad guys always found another flaw to exploit. In 2007 Steve Jobs banned Flash from iOS. He even wrote a white paper on why he did it and why Flash was a piece of garbage from a security/privacy standpoint. No iPhone, iPad, iPod has ever been able to play Flash content.
Finally Adobe is getting rid of Flash but there are those who refuse to let go. After 12/31/2020 ANY offer of a download to run Flash will be suspect and possibly a wolf in sheep’s clothing full of malware. Those who continue to try and use Flash will eventually get what they deserve... hacked.
YouTube uses HTML5 so you will be able to continue watching videos. Here is a link with more information.
This is a generic connection error.
It may be because your date and time settings are incorrect.
Beginning with Chrome 86 the SWF enabler doesn't work anymore as the Flash extension has been permanently disabled by Google. I've uninstalled the SWF add-on and got rid of the Flash plugin.
