I was looking for an old file and found it using Spotlight, however I can't tell where it's located. How can I tell where it is? Also, I when I double click on the name to open it, I get an error saying that it's an "unsupported version of Excel." Is there anything that i can do to get around this?

To show the location of a file on your Mac, choose the file from the results list, then press and hold Command. The file’s location appears at the bottom of the preview. To open the file’s location, press Command-R.
Look into the Free LibreOffice, it handles MS Office files like Word & Excel…
Do you have Excel installed on your Mac? If so, what version (from Excel menu > About Microsoft Excel).
If not, what version of Numbers is installed on your Mac?
Select (highlight) the file in Finder and then use the Finder File menu Get Info. In the Info window, what does it say after Kind?
That is the latest version of Numbers. If it won't open the file and if you don't want to pay for Microsoft Office, another option that is free and very good is Libre Office: https://www.libreoffice.org/

Any suggestion for getting the data even though the file is an "unsupported version of Excel"?
I do not have Excel.
