Notes iCloud sync issue after Evernote import to Notes

Hi there

I am attempting to get my notes out of Evernote into Apple Notes via the ‘import to Notes’ option. I’m doing it one notebook per time (as folk recommend) .

However, I’ve not got far at all. I’ve tested it with a small Evernote notebook , about 70mb. The import works just fine and I see it in my Notes on my MacBook Air 2020. They are a mix of pdfs, images and text.

However, they just refuse to sync to to my iPhone SE2020 and my iPad 5th gen.

I’ve tried logging out of iCloud on app devices . No joy. All that syncs is my original notes before the import. I’ve even run a few other test syncs and have created a single note on my MBA and it syncs.

What’s the issue here? I have almost 3000 notes to move into Apple Notes. I really want to use Apple Notes instead of Evernote. But at this point , I’m reluctant given the results of my initial test.

Any solutions really appreciated.

thanks

Hey Jason,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you have managed to get some of your notes transferred to the Notes app on your MacBook Air but they are not syncing to your iOS devices.

On your MacBook Air, do your notes appear in the iCloud folder or On My Mac folder? If they're not already in iCloud, try importing them to that folder. If needed, reference Import your notes and files to the Notes app for this process.

Make sure that iCloud Notes are turned on for all devices as shown in Turn iCloud features on or off.

We hope that helps!

Thanks Jason,

That helps isolate this a bit. When you add these notes to your Mac, can you then see them in your iCloud notes if you sign in from iCloud and check Notes? If not, try connecting your Mac to another network, then test again.

Next, set up a new admin user account and try adding a note to the iCloud account there. You'll need to sign in using your Apple ID. If needed, reference Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac for help setting up and testing in a new user account.

Cheers!
