IOS is freezing after unlocking the screen

Hi! I have a problem: my iPhone 7 plus has got some lags. It happens when I unlock the phone screen by Touch ID. Lags/freezing continue for 4-5 seconds. I don't know how to fix it. My actual firmware is iOS 14. It happens for about 80% of the time. 20% - iPhone works fine. The lags have started from iOS 13. I thought that updating to iOS 14 could fix this issue, but it couldn't. One thing which I have noticed - after unlocking the screen, the lock icon which is placed on the info bar of the screen is visible for about 3 seconds. Probably something is wrong with unlocking the screen by Touch ID. But touch ID works fine. Look at the video: after the first attempt everything works fine, but after the second attempt, the iPhone has been freezing.

Hello Yuriy_Z,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are having an issue with your iPhone being unresponsive after unlocking your iPhone. At this point, we would like you to reinstall iOS on your iPhone; this will help us isolate the situation further. Reinstalling iOS should not affect any of your data, but it is always a best practice to make sure you have a current backup in either iTunes or iCloud.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Once you have a current backup, follow the steps from the "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" section in this article:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen

Use the “Update” option and not “Restore” and these steps will reinstall iOS. Keep in mind that these steps were written for a different issue, but they will still help us isolate the situation further.

Cheers!

Thanks for replying, Yuriy_Z, and that additional info, it really helps! Next, use your Mac or PC to backup and restore your iOS software to factory settings, as this process erases the information and settings on your device and installs a fresh copy of the latest iOS software. Temporarily set up your phone as new to test your issues, and then restore your back up and test the issues again.

Hey, jdo_apple. Thanks for your answer. I tried your possible solution, but it didn't help me. Probably something wrong with locking and unlocking the screen. Because when I click on the button on the right panel to lock my screen, it looks like locking is a little bit slow. When I unlock my screen, iOS starts freezing and lagging. It continues for about 3-4 seconds, then everything is okay, no lags while using the phone. As I mentioned before, the lock sign on the top screen still placing after unlocking the screen and disappears with lags. I have no ideas about what I have to do to resolve this issue.

I have the exact same problem, but not just on a 6s or 7. it does happen on my iPhone 8 as well. When it happens I see 100% cpu usage and after some

time it stops lagging.

When I use the same backup on an iPhone X or newer, there are never any lags after unlocking the phone.

it must be a bug in ios 14 with touch ID, cause I never had such lags on older ios versions.

Please Apple fix this problem. It‘s still there in 14.4. and it is very annoying
