Apple care + as it pertains to hardware damage

If the hardware damage is considered a manufacturing defect or not user caused issue, the repair or replacement of the device is free.

If the damage is considered user or externally caused, then Apple care offers to repair it for a reduced fee under Apple Care+. You get 2 of such events during the life of the Apple Care plan.

Phil, Apple recently quietly made the replacements with AppleCare+ two in each 12 month period as opposed to twice in the life of the plan.
