Does Apple Magic Keyboard work/switch smoothly between MacBook Pro & iPad Pro?

I have my MacBook Pro connected to an external monitor and I just bought iPad Pro 12.9'.

I am wondering if the Apple Magic Keyboard work/switch smoothly between MacBook Pro & iPad Pro.

Want to buy the Apple Magic Keyboard so that I can use it as a keyboard for MBP and carry it around for iPad Pro.
