AirPods 2 - One pod consistently loses charge too soon

I am tremendously disappointed with a set of AirPods 2 I bought in April. I use them for running and the left side pod doesn’t last even 30 minutes, yet the amount of charge shown on the iPhone is always very high. The airpods stay in the case constantly, and I even make sure the case is always charged. I’ve rebooted the connection many many times, turned off Siri, turned off auto ear detection and still I have the same problem. I feel so let down by Apple on this purchase, and that’s coming from a longtime Apple customer.

Anybody have similar issues and know of a fix?
