Slightly lit screen from black and not showing the Apple logo - iPad Pro 2020 11"

I was using youtube to play music for a while as I was doing something else. I lowered the screen's brightness and came back to pick up my iPad but I saw the screen was dark. My first instinct was to click the power button and the music stopped. I was confused for a sec because I expected the screen to light up if I clicked the power button, but I forgot that I was playing music on youtube and not on the apple music app, so obviously the music (youtube video) would've stopped because I would've turned the iPad off.

After that realisation, I clicked the power button again but this time the iPad would not turn on. I tried turning it on multiple times until I came into conclusion that it just showed a black screen. After reading and watching some tips on how to restart the iPad pro, rather than showing the Apple logo, the screen would slightly light up but still remain black. I would keep pressing-holding onto the power button and wait until the Apple logo shows up but it would only show a slightly lit black screen. I could tell when it's angled under natural lighting that the screen is slightly lit but the iPad isn't on???

I'm not sure what to do and it seems like no one's had a similar problem. I'm just wondering if I'm supposed to hold onto the power button until it shows the Apple logo?

Is it normal to show a slightly lit black screen?

I've plugged it in to charge for a bit but still no change when I do the "press volume up + press volume down + press & hold power button" method. I don't have an adapter to connect it to my laptop for iTunes at the moment, so I feel like I'm limited with options.

Please help. I only got this iPad 2 weeks ago. It's a bit odd how it would suddenly crash like this when all I did was turn it off while it was on a youtube video?

the iPad hasn't been updated to IOS 14 yet, I believe it's still on the IOS 13 point something update (or whatever is the latest update before IOS 14)

If iPad isn’t responding, do one of the following:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

If the iPad still doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen.
