recover photos from icloud backup

I recently dropped an old phone that has photos on it but I have a backup all the programs I could find were actually finding the photos and videos but I needed to pay to use it is there a free way?

can apple do this because I would trust them more with this than some sketching program on the internet that requires a subscription.

Any help would be appreciated.

No, that would be an iTunes backup.

If you restore that backup to your phone, the photos that were included in it will be restored.

Keep in mind that restoring a backup, whether it's an iCloud or iTunes backup, will completely erase the phone and replace the contents with the contents of the backup.

You need to distinguish between iCloud synced photos and backed up photos. Log in to https://icloud.com and click on Photos. Do you see them? If so you synced them to iCloud, and you can just download them from that website. Also, if they are there they will not be in the backup, as that would be redundant.

If you backed up to iCloud, rather than syncing, I know of only one program that can get them from the iCloud backup; it can be purchased from https://iphonebackupextractor.com. It is not cheap. If you have a backup on your computer there are a number of free backup extractor programs available for download.
