SMC Reset on 2016 Macbook Pro?

My 5 hard drives disconnect with a very slight touch of any of the cables from any of the 3 Charjen Premium USB C Hubs - Pro Edition which are connected to any of the 4 USB-C ports on my 2016 Macbook Pro running Catalina Version 10.15.7. The support person at Charjen recommends that I try a SMC Reset. Is that the way to go? How do I do that? I have a T1 chip, not the T2.

Sounds to me the issue is a poor 3 quality of the Charjen Premium USB C Hubs - Pro Edition

There is no harm in resetting the SMC/ fact is do it 3 or 4 times in a row is not an issue...

No amount of SMC reset is not going to fix sloppy physical port connections.
