how to increase recorded sound louder then full volume

I recorded something and made a mistake with a wireless mike. The volume on the movie came out almost to faint to hear, even when we turn the volume all the way up on our computer. Is there some way we can enhance the sound so its much louder. Even with ear phones on we can barely hear the recording. So I'm looking for a way to increase the sound louder then the recording and louder then the volume on my computer will go. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

Hi

In Your case there are two ways to do this - inside iMovie HD6 or outside it and
via an audio-editing program as Audacity (free on internet)

a. In iMovie
• First You turn on the "rubberband" audio level trimming tool
Here You can increase audio to 150%
• If You need more - then select the Video-clip and go up to advance and "Extract audio"
This doesn't extract BUT place an audio copy on the track under the video-clip and
then silencing the audio in the Video-Track
Now increase the audio in the new Audio-Clip to 150% and so the audio in the Video-Clip

Sum - You now got an 300% increase.

Need more then select the new Audio-Clip and Copy then PAST it - Every Past will
increase audio with 150%.

YES - You Can stack as many Audio-Clips ontop of each other in ONE audio track and
there by increase audio till speakers popps !

b. Outside iMovie.
• Select Video-Clip
• Go to Export - And as QuickTime Expert
• Here select Audio Only as .aiff and Only selected Clip/s
• Close iMovie and open any Audio editor eg Audacity
• Amplify as needed
• Save out as a new .aiff audio file
• Import this into iMovie and put it under the Video-Clip
