IP address, Apple TV & Hulu Live

Hello,

I subscribe to Hulu Live. Hulu Live requires that I use my home internet connection on a supported device (Apple TV). I have both: Spectrum internet and a 4K Apple TV.

The problem is.. Hulu is saying my IP address doesn't match my billing address. After 30 days they won't allow me to use the service anymore unless I can fix it.

When I look at the IP on the Apple TV it looks like one of those internal addresses (192.168.1.1) and not the external one on my MacBook which is way different from that.

I have my own wi-fi setup with Portal which also acts a router. I suspect this what might be the reason why the IP address is different but I dont know what the solution is. I dont want to hook up the Apple TV directly to the modem. So what else can I do?

Ok so how do I know what the real IP address (external) one of the Apple TV is?

Just trying to figure out how to fix this issue (if possible) before my Hulu sub runs out on Tuesday.

P. S. I know what it is on my MBP. And Hulu says that IP is fine. So if my MPB and my Apple TV are on same wifi network then the problem is still Hulu's correct?

your appletvs internal ip address is not the same as the ip address it is viewed as having on the internet

Your external (WAN) IP address is given (“leased”) to you by your ISP. It will not be a fixed address for most consumers, and it can change at any time that they see fit (but should stay the same if possible (for months or more). It shouldn’t interrupt streaming services. But: groups of IP addresses go by location a bit, so Hulu can match that to a city, which may or may not match an physical address that you have shared with Hulu, which they may or may not object to.

“What is my ip” is a question that Google can answer, if you have trouble looking it up on your devices or router. That would be your external IP address.

There are several services that link an IP address to a geo-location, and they do not all agree. Where is my IP location seems to be pretty accurate for me, though.

Use of a VNP can really distort this (the VPN IP address will be seen as your IP address), and content providers do not like VPN use for this reason. They may block known VPN use just to be sure, legitimate or not.

Urquhart1244 explain how you find the ip, you have 1 ip which all the devices on your LAN share when it comes to externally on the internet
