Personal Hotspot - WiFi / Mobile Data

Hi Folks,

If my iPhone is connected to a WiFi service and connect a device to my personal hotspot, will the end device simply go through my iPhone on to the WiFi service or does the hotspot default to using mobile data?

I know this sounds an odd question as the obvious answer is to simply connect the end device directly to the WiFi service... However the reason for the question is that I have just got a GoPro which will update footage to the cloud. However it will not connect to a WiFi service that requires an end user licence, such as at a shopping Mall or Hotel. So is the hotspot a get around to get the GoPro connected to free WiFi when on holiday or will it just eat my mobile data?

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks

David.
