FCPX 10.4.9 Video and Audio syncing issues

Since I updated to 10.4.9 sometime in September/August, I've experienced issues with syncing audio and video clips.

I'm syncing video that should be on, for example, track 1, and audio that should be on track 2. While the clips do sync, they stack up on top of each other. I've found that syncing 2 - 3 sets of video and audio that I know for sure belong together, then by process of elimination, I can figure out which video is synced to what track.

But, I'd get lost if I tried doing that for 30 sets of multi cam clips and audio tracks at once.

Did something change with the new update? Is there an option to make sure my files sync properly on the correct tracks / timeline?

Do you have several pairs of video/audio that you want to synchronize?

And each pair should follow another, and not all stack, right?

Any reason why you have not updated to 10.4.10? This version solved many bugs in 10.4.9, and does not change the library format, so you could easily zip your 10.4.9, just in case, update to 10.4.10 and see if the sync works correctly?

Can you use PluralEyes for this and send to FCP? Not sure if this helps because I really don't understand what you're doing, but if you assign the clips the same camera angle name or number, and make a multicam clip the sync items will be sequential in the same lane. I don't understand why they're stacking when you sync unless they have the same audio. Do they?

Ah, I just checked and all of my audio files showed that they were created at the same time. However, my video files show a time sequence.

Audio Files

So for this one I created a compound clip of all my video files. I then synced the individual audio tracks to the compound video clip and got better results. Still, some of them just stacked. The audio clips in the middle that didn't sync to the video clips ended up syncing to the spike from the clapper. 🤣 There are more lost audio files than the screenshot shows--a total of 28 audio clips stacked in the center of my timeline.

Luis, you're right. I have several pairs of video and audio that I want to sync. Each pair should follow the other, and not all stack. This project has one long script, divided into segments. Each segment has multiple takes. And I film this in multiple languages. You can see why I don't want to keep syncing only a few clips at a time because I have a lot to go through.

Here's the English one I finished by syncing a few clips at a time: https://youtu.be/sFfh37nWe7Y

I'm currently using the trial version since my work just purchased a MacMini. As I'm waiting for the request for FCPX to be downloaded, I've been using the trial version for the last 4 weeks. I checked App Store for updates but all of my apps are up to date. My FCPX is still 10.4.9...

They are synced, but each pair is stacked on top of the other.

Clip DDD_9763 is synced to ZOOM0015.

Clip DDD_9764 is synced to ZOOM0016.

Clip DDD_9765 is synced to ZOOM0017.

I've synced a project just like this (script recorded in Vietnamese: https://youtu.be/UsvaNsIP6Og) and they were fine. The screenshots you're seeing is the Chinese speaker. Some other speakers for different languages have a ton of clips and it will take me forever to sync 3 at a time and then rearrange them onto 2 tracks.

Also, I'll be doing similar projects for different topics. This one is about Nail Salons. The next one is about Dining, then Gyms, then Construction, and more... and each topic will be repeated 5 times because we do them in 5 different languages... There's gotta be an easier way to sync these clips!

Here's the angle viewer:

Right, that's what I've been doing. Sometimes I do one pair at a time, sometimes I do 3. I was able to do ALL of them before, probably 5 weeks ago.

Also because this project is duplicated 5 times for 5 different languages, and I'll be doing a lot more topics, doing it 1 x 1 or even 3 x 3 will take so so so long. I'm bound to lose track.

I just want them synced side by side like Plural Eyes would do.

Yes, PluralEyes work but it's an extra $300 for that when final cut pro should be doing it. I used the 7 day trail version for another video with the same topic but in a different language. It worked but starting toward the middle end, they were off by a few frames. That can be mitigated as I can always sync in 2 or 3 sections.

As for stacking v sequential in the same lane...

Only pairs should stack, such as ZOOM0042_Trk1 and ZOOM0042_Trk2 as only those two have the same audio.
