QUICKTIME: how do I change frame rate and codec to record video

I have a USB camera, and I'm recording using QT. But how do I set the settings of my video? Does it set the FPS based on my USB camera output? And the codec, can I record a video with something else then Apple ProRes?

This is partially solved. Next to the record button on QT, there is an arrow for a drop down menu. There you can select HIGH and MAXIMUM. High will record in H264, and maximum will record in Apple ProRes 422
