I can't update to Xcode 12.1

Whenever I try to update Xcode, I either keep getting the error message "We could not complete your update. There is not enough disk space available to install the product," even though had ~30 GB of free space (though now I only have 19 GB because of the incomplete updates), or Xcode downloads the update and installs it for hours, only to suddenly stop and redownload the update from the beginning (while eating up half my storage in the process). So would I have to completely uninstall & reinstall Xcode to update it? If so, how/where could I access & delete the incomplete download file? (I had checked /private/var/folders/.../C/com.apple.AppStore, but the folder only had 700 KB of data)

Also, I'm using a 2017 MacBook Air on macOS Big Sur (Beta 10)

Thank you!

Ok, so I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling Xcode, since I couldn't free up enough space. Still wish Xcode didn't need so much space to update, though, especially considering the amount of space it takes up in total.

Oh, ok. Though usually I've been able to update it with less space before. Guess I'll try to clear up some more space and try again. Thank you!
