There is an error message that pops up on my ipad when trying to install the ios 14 update. It doesnt say anything is wrong, it just says there was trouble installing. Ive tried 17 times to get it to work, and it wont. Its causing huge problems.

i dont know how to fix it, and the apple advice on the website offers no help whatsoever with my situation. What do i do?

The download may be corrupt. The most appropriate action is to delete the existing update package - and then re-attempt the update.


Settings > General > iPad Storage - scroll down the list of Apps until you reach the Apple IPadOS 14.1 update, tap, then select Delete Update


After deleting the failed update package, force-restart the iPad:


  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.




After your iPad restarts, you can again attempt to download and install the update:

Settings > General > Software Update
