If you weren't storing messages in iCloud, you can restore from a backup to retrieve those messages.

If I restore a backup do I lose current apps,emails,text and pictures???
No, as app data would be included in a backup if you were backing up those apps' data. Photos will be in iCloud providing you are using that to store your photos, and the same with emails as well.
