Does windows 10 really support iPhone 8?

I just downloaded the latest iTune from Microsoft Store but it doesn't recognize my iPhone 8.

Looking at the Apple iPhone driver from Device Manager, the driver date is 6/21/2006 and version is 10.0.18362.900. Updating the driver indicated that it's the latest. I uninstalled the driver and reconnect the phone, the same driver got re-installed. Is there a newer version of the driver available?

The best thing to do is to remove iTunes from the computer using these instructions. Then take the time to download and install the latest version of iTunes from Apple. The one from Microsoft does not include the correct drivers. Go to www.apple.com/itunes/download From there, instead of using the Microsoft link, scroll down and look under the image of the computer, you need to use the one titled, Looking for other versions: Windows. The page will change and you will see a link for the 64-bit download. Use it. That will download all of the latest Apple drivers.

Hi pvfam,

We see you're having some trouble getting your device connected to your computer, and we'll be happy to help you with this.

Your iPhone 8 should be able to be used with a computer that has the latest version of Windows 10, as well as an updated iTunes version. If your device is not seen, please check the steps in this article here: If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Take care.

Hello,

Thanks for responding and the pointer to "If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. "

I have actually found that link and went through it before making this post. The issue is that the "Update driver" action always came back indicating "The best drivers for your device are already installed", but looking at the properties to see the driver date and version is "6/21/2006 and version is 10.0.18362.900". This date showing here is quite old which is way before iPhone8 was available so no surprise that my iPhone is not recognized. Doing Windows update also always coming back saying "You're up to date" so no new driver was updated from this either.

I wanted to download a newer version of the driver manually so that I can manually install it but unable to find one to download. Do you have a specific link to download a newer version of the driver for Windows 10?

My window 10 version is this:

Edition: Windows 10 Pro

Version: 1909

OS build: 18363.1082

Thank you and Best regards!

It's very disappointed that I'm still not able to sync my iPhone on my Windows laptop w/o an updated driver. I'm just wondering if I should still consider getting my iPhone upgrade to the newest iPhone 12 or should I just go with an Android phone now.

So, is there anyone out there who has the same problem syncing between Windows 10 and the recent iPhones?

Uhhh... why aren't you updating the driver to allow it to work. If you updated the software on your phone, the software on your computer will also have to be updated in order to have proper communication. Ensure you are running the latest available version for iTunes on your Windows machine and if you are prompted to install an updated driver... do it... otherwise it's not going to work.

Hello ChrisJ4203,

Thank you so much for your specific instructions. I did follow your instructions to get it working now. Really appreciate it!

Without your specific instruction, I think it's quite confusing on this page that people will normally download from Microsoft store and end up stuck like I did: hhttps://www.apple.com/itunes/

Since this page is on Apple site, I strongly suggest to update this page to avoid misleading people to download the latest iTune version from Microsoft store. Hope Apple people sees this post.
