Folding keyboard out of the way
If I’m using a back cover as well, can a 10.5 apple smart keyboard be used with the keyboard folded out of the way?

The Apple Folio keyboard is designed to fold behind the iPad. The design of your back cover will determine whether or not there is sufficient space for the keyboard to fold behind the iPad.
Perhaps the manufacturer of you back-cover can provide the definitive answer that you seek.
