Ambient light sensor fail - battery drain - overheat

Hi! I noticed recently after update 14.0 I started experiencing:

severe battery drain

overheat

Face ID not functioning (wait till iphone cool)

I had a chat online through diagnostics they found that the :

ambient light sensor test had failed

I don’t notice the phone having issues with contrast or with photos however the auto-contrast button is now missing. Face ID does work, but only if the phone has been shut off for a while (since it’s never cool when running)

someone else had a similar issue here, but didn’t post a solution and thread is too old to continue again. Could the sensor malfunction cause the battery drain ?

I’ve updated to 14.1 same drain - also reset to factory and restored again to no avail.

thank you!!!

My husband has iPhone 11 pro Max. Ambient light sensor has faulted so serious battery drainage. Sent it in to get it fixed but is told that because the fluid indicator had turned red. Now they refuse to repair it and wants to exchange the phone. For the neat price of $800. Why won’t they repair it? The water that the phone has been exposed to happened nine months ago and has nothing to do with this fault.

can someone advice me here?

please!

thanks.
