Accessing photos in iMovie on MacBook Pro

For some reason, iMovie on my computer won't allow me to access my Photos. I can upload videos/photos on my iPhone to the iMovie app and then edit the project on my computer. But I can't get any media into iMovie on my computer--either by dragging and dropping or through the Import function. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I would first try deleting preferences. Open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete

preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if you can import.

If still no luck, try importing your media into the Photos app and then accessing the media via the Photos item in the libraries section of side bar in the iMovie project screen. Your Photos library must be designated as the system photo library in the Photos app General Preferences.
