Can I charge my MacBookPro with one of my leftover chargers (ie from an iphone) using a cord that has the usb for the charger and then a usb-c on the other end to plug into the macbookpro? Is this going to do any damage & will it charge ok?

You can use one for charging, but do not use it while using the computer unless it has the same wattage rating as the broken one. Meanwhile, go buy a new charger needed by the computer.
