How can I charge the new iPhone 12 mag safe phone case without the mag safe charger

AT&T store said the 18W charginging block is sufficient.

No, this is not Firewire. The phone itself has a Lightning port which can be charged with any lightning cable connected to any charger.

The new MagSafe "puck" charger is like a larger Apple Watch charger, but flatter and comes with a 1m USB-C cable. The question is what USB-C chargers will support the Fast Charge mode? 18W? 20W?

Any USB-C charger will work using the USB-C to Lightning cable that comes with the phone. You can also use a USB-A charger with a USB-A to Lightning cable. You can also charge from a USB port on a computer if the computer is on (sleeping is OK).

Since MagSafe charging is rated at 15W, your 18W charger will likely be sufficient.

However, you may well find that directly plugging your 18W charger into an iPhone 12 will charge it faster than using MagSafe charging.

Do you mean a wireless charger? Or do you mean the power adapter that plugs into the wall?

It can be charged using a firewire cable (just as previous iphones) but it is recommended to use a fast charge block, such as 18W

Thanks, I think I will wait and time mag charging with my 18w before I buy another for a small gain.

The Product info page says USB-C charger of 20w or higher will deliver the fast charge function.

Has anyone tried the 18w A1720 (that I already have, came with 2019 iPad Pro, e.g.) to see if it does? I would like to use it rather than buy yet another (20w A2305, $19) to work with my new 12Pro MagSafe charging device ($39).

From what I’ve read, AustinBaze, Fast Charging is only claimed for 20 W or higher.

However, lower wattage chargers will still work, but may not charge as quickly.

Additionally, using the MagSafe wireless charger will not yield the Fast Charging that is quoted: that Fast Charging is for plugging a cable into the iPhone.
