How to fix the sped of an emitter when opened in FCPX

I have a Motion Generator.

It is a snow overlay.

When I open the generator in FCPX, the speed of the snow is altered by the length of the effect.

Short effect, fast snow fall. Long effect, slow snow fall.

I have tried using build-in and build-out markers but they do not seems to make any difference.

How do I edit my Motion Generator so that snow falls at the same speed however long the effect is in FCPX?

Thanks

karl

Ok, so I have found what seems to be a reasonable solution.

Instead of using Build-In and Build-Out markers I have put a Project Loop End marker at the very end of the timeline.

This seems to ensure that the clip plays at the correct speed.

I just need to make sure the clip is never used longer than its original, otherwise I will see the emitter restart.

Is there a better way?

thanks

Build-in and build-out markers are used precisely for that.

How long is the Motion project? If the project in Motion is long enough to cover the length you need in FCP, just set a Build-In (Mandatory) marker in tge LAST frame.

If the project is shorter (say, 10 seconds) than the length needed in FCP, you will want it to loop, so you probably need to add a Project Loop End marker. I am not at my mac now to make sure the loop will work bug I am sure you can test. Of course in this case you’d want that loop to be as seamless as possible and that may require some work.
