iPhone 12 and official 20W power adapter- charging delay?

Hey guys,

I've noticed that it takes about ~2 seconds for my iPhone 12 to recognise that it's plugged in using the new 20W adapter and the cable from the box, which is longer than it should be. I've tried 20W adapter + old iPhone 6s and old 5W adapter + iPhone 12 and in both instances there is much less delay. Does anyone know what could be up?

Thanks!

Hello, william078,

I have seen this problem a while ago, and it was a software issue. Try cleaning out your charging port (I know that this is a new iPhone but still do it) there could be things in the port that delay the charge getting to the iPhone. If this doesn't work then it may be a software bug. To fix this follow the steps below:

Restarting your iPhone:

  • Hold the side button until the 'slide to power off' option pops up on your screen
  • Slide to power off
  • When the screen goes black wait a minute, then hold the side button again until the Apple logo pops up on your screen

This will restart your iPhone and might fix any problems that may occur. If this still doesn't help then I would contact Apple, you can do this by scrolling up on this page to the top right where it says 'Contact Support'.

Have a good day,

CJM
