iPhone 12 Pro Overheating

I’ll be honest since upgrading my iPhone 7 to the new iOS I have been experiencing severe battery drain and overheating and when my iPhone over heats my display dims all by its self and then once cools down it brightness goes up it didn’t do it till this new iOS I’ll be honest first time in history I don’t know if upgrading to a new iPhone is worth it I may have to upgrade to a Samsung device this is the worst you have ever done Apple

Don’t trust them they told me to turn down my brightness down to like 50% that the it’s putting to much load on my iPhone and phone can handle brightness at 100% why make a device that can’t handle 100% brightness if it can’t handle it

listen, if your car is designed with a 6 cylinder engine performance like in mind and you only get a 4 cylinder performance out of it - it’s a rip off (especially if you pay a “6 cylinder” price for it). It’s poor engineering and in fact is a design flaw when something is not doing it’s job right, user has nothing to do with it. That’s the case with new iPhones. So don’t justify the issues that the new line of iPhones are having. They have serious issues that need to be addressed and corrected. Of course there are other options available on the market to chose from.

what I’m thinking about doing is get a new phone probably iPhone 11 and question them that iOS 14 isn’t on the device before I buy it and never update the new phone I’ll be happy to stay on iOS 13 or so I’ll just goto Samsung I’m not sure yet.....

I have since returned the phone (iPhone 12 Pro Max, 256GB, Canadian version, gold coloured). Had 3 long phone calls with Tech Support plus a Genius Bar appointment and I remained NOT convinced that there is no problems and if there is a problem the phone will warn and then shuts down, etc.

I am not wasting anymore time with a flagship phone and a flagship price.

I just opened my new iPhone 12 pro max today and I am noticing it runs very hot around the middle of the phone. I haven’t even put it on the charger yet so it’s not an issue of overcharging. I have about 1/3 battery life. I don’t have a bunch of apps open either. I had an iPhone 8 before and never had this issue.

I am also experiencing the same overheating issue. I am exiting the apps every now and then and still, it does not help at all. It is very uncomfortable while I am on call as it irritates my ear and surrounding area.

I have the 12 pro, and after only 30 mins of usage and opening barely any apps it feels extremely hot- I don’t know why. People are claiming the over heating is coming from the magsafe chargers but i don’t even have one, and don’t use a charger while using it.

Thanks for all the responses. I've actually gone through all settings meticulously and all are as they should be, so I don't know what is causing it. If it continues I will go back to the store where I purchased it and see what can be done. Thanks again and stay safe, everyone!

i had been reading about MagSafe, which I hadn't heard of until i bought my 12 pro but now I'm more confused than ever lol! Trying to figure out if MagSafe is only necessary if I want to use a wireless charger. I don't, I'd rather stick to the cord and wall plug, but should I disable MagSafe settings? I'm not clear if MagSafe runs or is involved with other features on the phone, in which case disabling MagSafe could mess with other features. I'm actually wondering if what others are claiming is true--that MagSafe could be the reason my phone is getting so hot. On a side note, I've also noticed that my battery drains fairly quickly--doesn't last more than a few hours aft full charge. So confused...

I haven’t noticed my 12 Pro Max overheat since the first day when it was on the magaafe charger and downloading all my apps from backup in the cloud. The phone seems to know to charge slower at bedtime on MagSafe and through the night instead of fast charging overnight. Any thoughts?

I bought an iPhone 12mini. I thought I'm the only one having this over heating issue but after reading your comments I guess most of us does have this same issue with our phones.

What options we have after purchasing this phone?

I’ve had my iPhone 12 pro for 7 days and am noticing it’s getting hot when in use. Should I wait for an update to fix that or take it to the apple store? I don’t want to send it back because I won’t have a phone for 3 to 6 weeks if I do. Can the Apple store exchange it in store or do I have any hope on this? It’s a $1200 investment. Please help.

I'm not using my phone a lot but its getting over heat even if I'm charging it. This morning my daughter had it for less than 20 min and it was so hot to hold the phone.

This is so alarming.. I just charge my phone and its not even fully charge yet and when I took it its hot again.. Im worried because I didn’t get apple care.. many of us is experiencing it.. answer us Apple..the money we investment is not a joke
